Corporate Giving Volunteer Days

Thank you for your group’s interest in partnering with Uptown Stories to support the needs of our community through meaningful service.

We offer three-hour volunteer workdays designed for corporate and community groups. During these workdays, volunteers rotate through a variety of hands-on tasks that directly support the students in our programs—many of whom experience economic hardship and social-emotional vulnerability.

We are happy to tailor the available projects and activities to create a meaningful and engaging service experience that best meets your group’s interests, skills, and goals.

To learn more or to schedule a volunteer work day, please contact our Volunteer and Internship Coordinator, Geeta Fleck.

There are many ways individuals can get involved with Uptown Stories:

Write Correspondence and Affirmations

Our pen pal program gives students an opportunity to strengthen their literacy and writing skills through letters and drawings while building social-emotional skills. Volunteers exchange letters with students, offering encouragement, thoughtful feedback, and positive affirmations that help students feel heard and supported.

Host a Supply Drive

Help us keep our classrooms stocked! Your group can organize a supply drive and fulfill one of our teachers’ wish lists, providing the materials they need to create engaging and enriching learning experiences for our students.

Pack Supplies for Distribution

Help us prepare school supplies and books for students in our programs. Volunteers sort, organize, and package materials so they’re ready to be distributed to students and their families.

Help Us Prepare for a New Semester

Help us organize our supplies and get our Cornerstone location ready to welcome a new group of students. Volunteers can sort and inventory materials, assist with light cleanup and organization, and help with other semester-preparation tasks as needed.

Review Student Work for an Uptown Stories Anthology

Each semester, our students’ writing is published in an Uptown Stories anthology. Volunteers can support our staff by reviewing student work and helping ensure that pieces are polished and ready for publication.
