Full tuition for our 10-week workshops is $600. However, we are dedicated to keeping our program accessible to any student who is interested in participating, and offer a pay-what-you-can tuition option for every workshop. We never ask for proof of need, we only ask that families can pay the most they can afford. You will see the option to fill in the amount you would like to pay on the registration form. If you have any questions, please email register@uptownstories.org.

No. Uptown Stories is not a free program. In order to keep our workshops accessible to the entire community, our tuition is pay-what-you can. We never ask for proof of need, we only ask that families pay the most that they can afford. If you are unable to pay full tuition, please consider the most you can afford before choosing your tuition payment.

Yes! When you go to register, make sure that you choose the option to pay later before checking out. Send us an email at register@uptownstories.org to let us know how you would like to break up the payments.

  • We accept all forms of payment. Please make all checks out to Uptown Stories, Inc. You can bring your payment (check, money order, or cash) to the first day of the workshop your child will be attending. If you would like to mail a check or money order, please send your payments to the following address:

Uptown Stories
178 Bennett Avenue
New York, NY 10040

In the event that you need to cancel your registration, please send us an email to register@uptownstories.org as soon as possible.

If your child is registered for a workshop and unable to attend, and it is more than 48 hours before the first class, we will either credit you the full amount paid towards a future workshop, or refund 50% of the amount paid. If it is less than 48 hours before the first class, we will issue you a credit for the amount paid towards a future workshop.

For first-time students only: If your child attends the first class of the workshop they are registered for and doesn’t want to return, we will issue a full credit for a future workshop or refund the total amount paid. No refund will be issued after the first class.

No, but if after registering and attending the first class, your child is unhappy or doesn’t feel like it’s a good fit, we will either help you switch workshops, reserve a credit for a future workshop, or give you a refund. More than 64% of our students keep coming back semester after semester, and if you give us ten weeks, we’re betting your child will love our teachers and writing as much as we do.

No, while we would love to offer tutoring or homework help, we don’t have the space or staffing to accomplish that right now. It’s certainly part of our long-term plan for the future.
